How Long Does a Temporary Tattoo Last?

Temporary tattoos have grown in popularity to an unprecedented level in recent years. New tattoo lovers cut across all ages and social classes. Many go for permanent tattoos, while many others prefer the temporary variety. It could be they are not ready to commit to a permanent design, or may not be entirely happy with the idea of a permanent marking on the body.

If you are interested in a tattoo, but are considering a temporary one, you have 3 choices.

Henna

These tattoos are derived from ancient Indian, African and Middle Eastern artistic and spiritual traditions that are thousands of years old. A henna tattoo involves the artist painting the chosen area with a mixture combining henna leaves, black tea, paprika, and other natural ingredients.

Once this is done, the artist applies a lemon paste on the tattoo, and leaves it to dry for three to four hours. The tattoo will last, if cared for, for up to 3 weeks.

Airbrushed

If you do not care to have a tattoo on that long, why not go for an airbrushed tattoo?

It's got a modern feel, and lasts about 3 or 4 days if done by a good airbrush tattoo artist. The task is performed by an artist who uses airbrush machinery and paint to create the tattoo in any number of colors or range of designs, according to your specification.

Stick-On

This is the ultimate quick-fix tattoo. You can get them at costume shops and party stores. You can easily apply them yourself, using as a guide the directions that come with the package.

Most stick-on tattoos will last from 3 days to 7 days depending on the quality.

Now that you know how long a temporary tattoo will last, why not go ahead and try one or two of the methods shown, or even all three? These types of tattoos are great for parties, celebrations, and trips to the beach, and there's nothing quite as re-assuring as knowing it is temporary and causes no discomfort.
